Have just spent the last two and a half weeks in Thailand. So far, my favourite places are Chiang Mai and Koh Tao. I liked Krabi but the weather was crap and I didn’t really get to see the best of it I think. We’ll go back again when it’s not monsoon season and hopefully get to see more of it.

At the moment I’m sitting in an internet café, but I’m having to type this in word as the internet it currently down. Hopefully not for long or I will have to save this to a usb drive or something…

It’s my birthday today. Doesn’t feel much like it. I am a bit sad and homesick today, but only because I usually spend my birthday with my family and I’m going to miss that… However, I get to see one of my best friends for a few days who lives here and that’s making up for it a little bit.

We’re in Pattaya now and will be for a few more days. It’s a bit manky I must say. Too many fat old guys with young thai girls hanging around. It’s a sleazy place, but we’re only here to see Jasper so will lie low during the day and see her in the evenings as she’s still working. It’s been great to see her.

From here we go to Bangkok on Saturday, ready to fly to Malaysia on Sunday. Yay for diving and orangutan.

Better go. Can’t spend all day in an internet café! Sorry for the long delay between posts, it’s hard to do it in internet cafes….

6 days to go

See I promised i wouldn't give a day by day run down of our impending departure and true to my word I haven't. I just realised that we have less than a week to go, and mild panic has set in. I can tell I am panicking as I keep waking up in the middle of the night and stressing about life, the universe and everything. It sucks. I can't solve the problems of the world between 2.30 and 5am, but will my brain believe that, apparently not. so off it goes, still trying, until I can safely assert that "higamous hogamous, woman is monogomous, hogamous higamous, man is polygamous" truly is the meaning of life and really believe that it is so. Anyway, we had our going away party on Sunday night. Seeing as there was a public holiday on the monday it wasn't as bad as it might seem. but also, seeing as I only had four beers over 6.5 hours, and apparently they're watering down the drinks (well some people thought so), I'm not surprised I wasn't hung over on monday morning. I even drove home! How dull. Still, it was a fun night, and people even came. So many that I didn't have time to talk to any one of them as much as I would have liked to, and some not at all!

The movers are coming tomorrow. phew. I think it will feel more real when I can't wear everything in my arsenal as some of it will be on a plane winging its way to London. I have tried to be ruthless and have got rid of lots of clothes - I have given some to charity and others to friends, and some, like all my old-looking underwear, has even gone in the bin. Very cathartic. I like having all new undies! I should renew my collection completely more often. I am keeping some stuff here though. it's all being washed to make sure that nothing is musty-smelling, got moth babies, or mouldy before I put it into the drawers we have in storage. Actually, maybe I will box them. I am leaving anything that I don't wear reasonably regularly, as I think it would be silly to lug it across the world for a few wears. Plus, there will be more room for new stuff! ;)

I sold my car on the weekend, and my bike! yay! all up 4k to go towards paying off loans (I am very glad that I got more for my car than what I owe on it!) and leaving some cash behind in case we need any.

Getting everything that we are taking to Thailand into the suitcases is going to be tough. We have wetsuits, towels, dive fins, blah blah. We have been very, (very), ((very)), very selective about what we take with us in our suitcases clothes-wise, but I still think that getting in under 20kg each is going to be a stretch. ESPECIALLY after we've been in Thailand for a while! sheesh.

Haven't planned any more of the Thailand bit yet, but I'm sure it will come together. I really need to book a night or two accommodation in Bangkok before we leave though. Finding somewhere to stay at 1.30am ish probably wouldn't be fun.

Anyhoo, better do some more work on my second to last (and a half) day.

I like this version of "Crazy" by Ray La Montagne. It's nice.
