Kura - where all the famous people go

We were having dinner at Kura last night for Ben's birthday when I realised that Lucy Lawless was at the next table (I must say looking hot with her blonde hair) and it was her birthday too. She was having dinner with a bunch of no-name NZ celebrities. They sang her Happy Birthday and they all joined in when everyone was singing Happy Birthday to Ben (i hate that song and the singing of it, but don't get me started). So that was nice. She jokingly looked a bit miffed when a cake appeared at our table and leaned over to ask us whether it was good. Anyways, towards the end of our meal Russell Crowe walked in with his bunch of cronies that I assume were his godawful band Ordinary Fear of God(awful). The NZ 'celebrity' table cheered and Ben froze in a paroxism of excitement, mouth agape and eyes lit like it was christmas. I thought he might actually have kittens. Mind you, this is the guy who was previously excited to the point of telling everyone on a Monday morning that Judy Bailey had been into the cafe he moonlights in. He also was excited by Christine Rankin's appearance and thought about taking home a baby bottle that she'd left behind to sell it on the interweb (I know he was joking, because he's so paranoid of dirt, bacteria etc that there's no way he would ever have touched it!). If you have no idea who these people are then I wouldn't be surprised. Given the shit that becomes front page news here anyone can become famous. Okok, so Judy Bailey is reasonably famous in NZ terms, she was the TV1 newsreader for like, forever, but Christine Rankin? Famous for being head of the NZ welfare organisation (winz) and being crap at it and wearing short skirts and big hoopla earrings. So, I guess for him, Russell Crowe and Lucy Lawless are big news! REALLY BIG FUCKING NEWS. He was in the paper this morning with this picture

He was wearing the same jacket at dinner. Does the man never change? OK, I know I'm only kidding. He could have had the interview just before dinner or something. I just thought, if KanYe can change four times in two hours, can't the man put on something different before he goes out to dinner?! (If anyone says the word "interrobang" I swear I'll hurt them.)
Russ thinks that NZ will be "surprised" by his concert. What, surprised at how someone can be so shit? Coz I don't think anyone will be surprised at that...
Australia can have him.

So this is why they scratch stuff, I thought they were just trying to piss me off!

bra sale

There was a 50% off bra sale at Bendon last night. I bought six (including 2 sports bras that don't really count but are super expensive normally) and I think it might have been the best bra thing to ever happen to me. except for that best ever bra that died and I could never replace for the same thing. . but bra sale? good!

Touch-e?

Methinks she knows not what touché means - I have advised the author to use the acute from now on to avoid confusion with other silicon-enhanced creatures...

Hi BR

Nice report

FYI - I was there on time, early even! But the change interval between the two games was so quick, and most of you guys were already on the court from the previous game.

Don’t want short ugly nails, just for the sack of the odd game of indoor, so Il know next time to go get some Mickey Mouse gloves before the game starts : -)

Hi Everyone,

A hasty match report from last week…

The first game unfortunately saw the return of S___ "butter fingers" S____, who was apparently trying to catch with her elbows. M___ "I'm not an English teacher" U____ copped some kind of solid object in the third eye (I think it was an elbow) and was suddenly blessed with the handy skill of double vision! P___ "tumbleweed" G____ spent a large amount of time rolling on the ground. He later confided that he was conducting quality control on the astroturf. K___ "black death" C___ was trying to keep it all together, and got shoved more than once. B___ "contact" R____ and R___ "snatch and grab" B____ were solid in defence, against the dangerously accurate ginger shooter. We ended up losing narrowly, 19 to 20, but deserved to win dammit!

In the second game, we were briefly one person down as P____ "I shall make it to the court on time, and without nails next time, I promise" L____ had to do the walk of shame with minnie mouse gloves. K____ "I'm baaaaaaaack" C____ was having a mighty shooting game -hoorah!. Thankfully, B___ "up and down and up and down" R____ was also on form, but he was having some difficulty getting the ball in the hoop on the first go. W___ "dirty mind" M____ apparently almost gave one of the other team's players a 'digital exam', and took a soaring ball to the mid-section courtesy of moi -sorry WM! B___ "leaning tower of power" R____ kept the opposition's score low, helped from the second quarter on by PL, who had swapped with S___ "please don't throw the ball so hard" S____. Anyway, the bonus was that we WON.

(apologies for any errors, I got mixed up with who played what and where, and how quite frankly!)

So maybe maybe we'll be going away soon-ish?

Things are afoot on the going away front. Certain videoconference interviews have taken place and more are to come, even offers have been made. This is exciting. I can't wait to go. Although I will miss my critters more than I can actually think of at the moment. I am sure their grandmammy will take good care of them though. I am hoping we might be able to stay with her for a while before we leave to get them used to their new home and wean them off me a bit *sob*...

It won't be forever though, and they will be back with me before I know it (I hope). They're such sweet critters. I'm not so worried about sammy, if anyone gives him cuddles he's happy. But frodo is so much more sensitive and reliant on me and simon... Hopefully he adjusts ok, neurotic creature that he is...

I hate when smokers come back inside after having a cigarette and stink the office out. It's unpleasant. It might be ok if I didn't have to sit near to them, but I do. I know, I'm a hater, but I don't like my nasal passages being assaulted with your stench. And on top of that - why don't you so some work instead of going out smoking all the time! Oh, and while I'm ranting, don't go on about not wanting to pay taxes to support other people (students, etc - coz they don't get much anyway) when I know that one day I'll have to support your sorry ass when you're dying of cancer.

enough already.

He wore this...

And this

I'd tap that.

and I got the t-shirt...

kan-Ye, kan-Ye, kan-Ye, kan-Ye

So, um, yeah. kanYeWest. Last night. so so good. One of my three best ever concerts. I can't decide which is best. De La Soul, Q-bert or Kanye. Kanye's leading the pack but possibly coz it was only last night, I had a better spot at De La, and Q-bert was mind-blowing. Fuck it was so much fun. Apart from the turf battles I was having with this stripy-shirt-wearing little dweeb next to me. GET LOST FUCKER. You can't have my spot. I worked hard for this. So I stuck my elbow into him every time he started jumping up and down... Other than that I was such a good show. Common showed and played 'the light'. If hubby and I had a 'song', then that would be it. he also featured on a couple of other songs. There was a bunch of string instrument players (it wasn't a quartet, it was more like a quintet or a sextet) and two singers for the other bits. And DJ A-Trak.

Never before seen a rapper singing along to A-Ha's Take on me, but this show had it all!

And are Kanye and Common hot or what!

He puts the fro in fromultuous

Frodo came in last night with a huge swollen face. Poor kitty. Somehow he always ends up in the wars. fights, cars, fights with cars, falls etc. Little kitule has cost me a lot of money in his lifetime, but I wouldn't trade him for a second. he's a sweet furry beast...
This ain't good. I know the crazy psycho also blogged it, but it doesn't often happen!

not good

oh,

and it's my brother's birthday. He's 30 now. I love him.

Sah weet ah

I'm going to Kanye tonight. oh yes I am.

I haven't slept much the last few nights. This morning I turned off my alarm and promptly went back to sleep - thereby missing most of my early training session. *yawn*. 'nother one tomorrow, but a bit annoying really. I feel a bit like there's a strobe light going above me constantly and I'm only getting flashes of what's going on around me. Damn Grey's Anatomy keeping me out of bed! I love that programme.

Died my hair black. Si misses the old me.

Weekend was pretty quiet. I can't even remember what we did on Friday, Saturday we had breakfast with friends (they have the cutest kids), went to a party on Saturday evening at a work friend's place. It was pretty funny. Then Sunday we made pancakes in the morning, I went for a walk along Milford beach with friends and then we saw Hostel in the evening. If we hadn't been there with other people we'd have walked out. It was sick. Gratuitous torture. I think I have too much of my father in me and I couldn't stomach it. However, someone took their baby along - perhaps they're after a psychopath for a child - you know, pulling wings off flies, torturing small animals for starters and then moving on to people in later life. Why would you normalise your child to hearing screams like that?! Sick. sicksicksicksick.

Defleaed Sam this morning - he now hates me. Frodo scarpered so I'll have to get him later...

Do you wanna come to the pants party?

Hahahaha

Tuesday already

I go to the gym on Tuesday mornings to see my personal trainer. It was pretty tiring really, he made me lift these heavy things up and then put them back down again... The thing that gets me most is that I get woken up at some crazy hour to go punish myself. Today it was only 7am that I had to be there which I had thought wouldn't be as bad (normally it's 6am). However, it wasn't easier. I still had to endure Cliff yelling "KEL" at me in a Jay-Z-esque manner when he calls R. Kelly on stage in the fade to black dvd. I'd like to highlight that don't like people defecating on me.

Recently (as in probably 2 weeks ago) I started training with another girl. It has been really good because we now get two workouts with Cliff each week for the same price, and it's essentially the same as a one-on-one session but there's someone in my corner when he goes off on a crazy tangent... Like today was the random question "are scorpions arachnids?" Which I think stemmed from the fact that he had earlier stated that we weren't there to "fuck arachnids" and I'm guessing his star sign is scorpio! Anyways, yes they are. and to your next question centipedes and millipedes are chilopods and diplopods, respectively.

I have also started a new high fibre kick in an attempt to get my innards working properly again. I'm on day two, so I'll have to see how it all goes.

I can't work today. The system I use for my job isn't working on my computer. I'm not complaining! :)

I'm getting a bit sick of this place at the moment. I need a change. I am getting worked up by the politics of the place. I know any workplace has them, but an old teacher said an interesting thing to me on the weekend about how if there is no element of altruism in your work you won't feel fulfilled and will feel like there's something missing. I found I agreed with him. I feel like there's been something missing. I always thought I would end up a vet or a doctor or something, and I still want to do those things. I have considered chucking it all in and going to work for the SPCA or something similar. I want to feel like I'm making a difference, however small it may be.
